On Tuesday, September 22nd, We enthusiastically welcome the return of legendary filmmaker and illustrator Mike Kuchar to Millennium Film Workshop, ahead of Long Live the Underground, our 60th Anniversary showcase at the Museum of Modern Art, for a Personal Cinema program of recent works and to celebrate this milestone with us. Mike Kuchar, along with his brother George, was among that initial generation of filmmakers in the New American Cinema Group that defined a fresh language of underground film in the 1960s in New York City, and whose influence can be felt in the work of John Waters, Gregg Araki, Guy Maddin and countless others. More specially for us at Millennium, Mike worked with us as projectionist for many years at the Workshop on East 4th Street, and it’s our great honor to welcome him home for this presentation after a long absence.
