Throughout the history of cinema, there has often been fascination by the sexual element of the medium, and the bodily effect it can have on the viewer. It manifests through many modes, the most extreme end being the pornographic, with the explicit sexual encounter yielding a level of arousal not often felt in mainstream narrative cinema. The experience of perceiving sexual fantasies and kink through the medium can prove to be a deeply rewarding experience, often communicating latent or otherwise untapped desires in a method that feels transcendental. It taps into the more voyeuristic side of the spectator, a side that inherently excites and provokes.
