Organized By Anton Astudillo for Millennium Film Workshop
Join us June 14, 8pm, for an evening celebrating local filmmaker Cyrille Phipps and over 3 decades of her film journey. In this edition of Millennium Film Workshop's Personal Cinema series, we'll share 4 short films by Phipps including groundbreaking 90s short Respect is Due (1991), Seen, But Not Heard (2007), a short documentary concerning personal accounts of Black women affected by HIV/AIDS; and Our House: Gays and Lesbians in the Hood (1992), created for Not Channel Zero, a 90’s public access project which combined alternative television style with a critique of commercial media, using low-end, accessible technology and extremely small budgets. The screening will also feature Phipps’ most recent narrative project, Mama Duke (2022).
