Manuel Arturo Abreu: Video Archives

Film Diary NYC and Millennium Film Workshop are proud to present a curated selection of recent moving image works by non-disiplinary artist manuel arturo abreu.

Drawing from videos uploaded to YouTube since 2014, the program traces the raw beginnings of abreu’s moving image practice through its many unexpected and innovative forms. 

Utilizing opacity, collage, and post-mumblecore incorporations of everyday experience and vernacular artistic production, abreu’s videos move between the diaristic, the essayistic, the philosophical, and the formally experimental. 

Working with media ranging from webcam data-moshing and underwater cameras to screen-recorded Zoom lectures and Dashcam footage, and often scored under their musical moniker Tabor Dark, abreau’s videos reflect a boundless approach that collapses distinctions between life, thought, and artistic production.
