About the event
Either, Or, is a a narrative short, improvised between the artist and actors in various locations throughout New York City. A simple plot of girl meets boy is expanded by the cast and crew’s real life art and music communities. A constant theme in Holly’s work, the marketed sentimentality of roses is put to the test. Alongside Holly's other films such as Coral & Sebastian and Mujeres Con Mangos (music video for Frida Kill), Holly paints portraits of the struggles, romantic and otherwise, of artists in New York City. Tasha Lutek's Looking Forward, Seeing Past was edited from 1980s VHS tape from the artist’s family, Looking forward, seeing past centers on a teenager being filmed by her father during a trip to Portland, Maine. At the end of their weekend she will return to the controversial boarding school Elan. Not understanding the intensity of the school’s abuse but knowing they will soon be apart again for an extended amount of time, he wants to create a record of their trip. He directs her to smile for the camera, to look at him, to be happy. She wants to operate the camera herself. Both struggle to control the narrative as they say their goodbyes. Film score by Sean Spada. FILMS:
